Porsche launched its new Mission X concept on Thursday, featuring a battery-powered hypercar, per The Verge.
Interestingly, the automaker describes the concept as a hypercar “conceptual reinterpretation.”
About the Mission X concept
Technical details
The Mission X concept is a squat, tiny car with bubbly fenders, similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder. However, Mission X pushes into its hefty corner elements and makes them a significant component of the design that goes all the way to the roof.
According to Porsche, the car’s battery would have a 900-volt system architecture. Porsche said it would place the battery bank behind the seats in the car’s center, calling it an “e-core layout.” Moreover, it promises to have a power-to-weight ratio of around one horsepower for every 2.2 pounds.
Porsche markets the car to “be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife” — a title now held by the Mercedes-AMG One. It would reportedly charge about twice as quickly as the Taycan Turbo S.
In addition, this concept has a two-seater and a short wheelbase of just 107.4 inches, which is quite similar to that of the 918 Spyder.
Exterior
The tires stagger slightly for “aerodynamic purposes,” and the front and rear wheels measure 20 inches and 21 inches, respectively. When viewed from the front, the car resembles something like a scarab beetle.
The car’s rear features the “PORSCHE” badge and red LED strips, offering a 3D effect.
Interior
When you open the doors, you will find yourself seated beneath the sky since they sweep up and forth. It also has a retro-future jet plane design with a steering yoke.
The inside of the car gives off an 80s sports car vibe, with straight lines, sleek angles, and flat surfaces. Its passenger seat dash features a modular attachment space with a stopwatch module, the driver’s vital data, etc.
