What is the ROADS app?

Porsche launched the ROADS app in 2019 to aid driving fans across the world for free. Through the app, regardless of their car brand, global drivers have the platform to discuss their favorite routes in the ROADS Community and get together in groups to plan trips.

In essence, these drives may lead them to the most exciting and entertaining routes. The app has now enrolled more than 180,000 users to enjoy the new update.

“The centrepiece of the new ROADS app is the generator for scenic routes. It allows driving fans to find their own individual dream route with just a few clicks.

AI works out a suitable route based on various parameters such as the curves of the road, the topography, landscape features, or exciting points of interest. From their starting point, the user can plan a circuit route or navigate to a specific destination – no matter where in the world they are.”

Porsche AG’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Robert Ader

What’s the big deal?

The ROADS app is not designed to quickly lead you to your destination, unlike Google Maps or any other traditional app. Instead, it will get you through long and enjoyable roads to allow you to enjoy your driving.

Porsche claims that providing intuitive guidance was a top focus for the development team. That said, they ensured that the region-based dashboard provides drivers diverse simple options to help users get started.

Initially, the app will ask you the following key questions: How far and in which direction do you want to travel? As soon as you customize your route, it will suggest various options depending on your preference.

Users can then use dynamic filters to improve the subsequent drive from there. On the other hand, it only takes a single click to access the busiest local roads.

Furthermore, the Apple CarPlay® allows you to view the route to your digital infotainment screen regardless of your car brand. The route can also be saved and shared with the ROADS community.

It is indeed a useful app, especially for those driving fans. Porsche creatively demonstrates that driving is not just about getting to your destination but also about enjoying the roads along the way.
