Porsche reported that it produced its 100,000th Taycan on November 7 this year, as per InsideEVs.
“We are very pleased to have reached this milestone in production history so quickly – despite the recent challenges posed by the semiconductor shortage and the volatile Covid situation. With the Taycan, we have made a decidedly successful start in the electric age,” Vice President of Model Line Taycan, Kevin Giek, stated.
About the Porsche Taycan
The Porsche Taycan was first put into production in September 2019 at the company’s primary factory in Zuffenhausen.
Obviously, this timeframe indicates that the entire process has been ongoing for more than three years.
As per the report, a customer in the United Kingdom will receive the 100,000th Neptune Blue Taycan Turbo S.
As for the available Taycan body variants, there are the Taycan Cross Turismo, Taycan sports sedan, and Taycan Sport Turismo. Remarkably, they all have five different powertrain setups.
Based on the WLTP test cycle, the Porsche Taycan 4S has the greatest range, reaching up to 513 kilometers (319 miles).
On the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Taycan Turbo S is the quickest electric vehicle in production. Remarkably, its record time is 7 minutes, 33 seconds. It is comparable to the record of 7 minutes, 35.579 seconds set by the Tesla Model S Plaid.
Taycan’s recorded performance in km/miles
According to Porsche, “many” Taycan owners have recorded more than 100,000 km (62,000 miles) in their vehicles. Notably, one of the best outcomes has had minimal to no servicing concerns as it approaches 200,000 km (124,000 miles).
“Jean-Hubert Revolon has already driven more than 188,119 kilometres in his Taycan 4S since mid-August 2020. The transport entrepreneur lives in the Lyon area and has already driven his Porsche in almost all of France’s neighbouring countries, covering daily distances of up to 1,200 km.”
“…the 43-year-old says none of his many cars have ever been as reliable as his Taycan 4S. Only one suspension sensor has needed to be replaced so far.”
Sales
Porsche Taycan sales fell YoY in the most recent quarters to 6,196 units in the third quarter and 25,073 so far this year because of production limitations. For reference, the company sold over 41,000 units in 2021. However, it is probably not attainable in 2022.
The US, China, and the combined markets for the UK and the Republic of Ireland represent the main markets for the Porsche Taycan.
