Hot-weather testing details

Polestar exhibited the Polestar 3 at the recent 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in July. Then, it immediately brought the models to the UAE in August to test their capabilities and incapabilities during hot weather. They primarily aim to “fine-tune” the model’s climate system in an extremely hot environment.

Tesla North reported that Polestar engineers drove the electric SUV along the urban areas and deserts across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. During the testing process, they recorded a maximum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius (122°F).

Notably, this extreme weather test is crucial for the automaker’s vehicle development stage.

Polestar to begin US production in Q1 2024

Polestar initially introduced the new mid-size e-SUV in October 2022. Now, the model is set to undergo production at Volvo Car’s South Carolina plant in Q1 2024.

The Swedish automaker plans to begin deliveries in the US market in Q2 2024, Polestar’s online configurator revealed.

Therefore, the model may launch stateside for the model year 2025.

What’s currently known about the Polestar 3?

Auto Evolution reported that the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor will ride on the SPA2 vehicle architecture like the Volvo EX90 and the new Polestar 5.

It claims to offer a driving range of up to 300 miles (483 kilometers) with CATL’s battery cells. It can also apparently accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

The Polestar 3 also supports fast charging technology of 10% to 80% in just about 30 minutes. It also has a maximum output of 489 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the performance pack enables a maximum power of 517 hp and 671 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Its driving range is also shorter at 270 miles.

According to InsideEVs, the US-spec model will have a base price of $85,300 (LR Dual Motor). Meanwhile, the Performance pack will reportedly cost $91,300.

These prices already added the $1,400 destination fee. However, they can still drop depending on applicable incentives like the federal tax credits of up to $7,500.

Polestar already started accepting orders for the Polestar 3 online for a refundable deposit fee of $1,000.

Polestar encourages interested customers to visit its official retail stores to check the Polestar 3 prototypes in person.

“Polestar 3 is at the start of its journey and customers can now visit our retail locations around the world to see its great proportions and sit in its exclusive and innovative interior.”
