Technical details

The 64 electric buses order is partitioned into 24 units of 15-meter and 40 units of 12-meter all-electric buses. Furthermore, these buses will be deployed on the Nedre Glomma region operating routes for Nobina.

According to BYD, both buses have a thermal management technology that enables them to be used in Norway’s different climates while also increasing efficiency.

The leading Chinese automaker also claimed that the safety and range of the bus are secured by a new gen of lithium iron phosphate batteries and a 6-in-1 integrated controller assembly technology.

A single charge will propel the 12-meter BYD low-floor electric bus 450 kilometers. Meanwhile, the larger 15-meter low-entry BYD electric bus can travel 400 kilometers on a single charge.

Nobina’s fleet

Over 300 BYD pure electric buses are either in the fleet or on order by Nobina. Notably, they are operating in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

We have received a third substantial eBus order from #Nobina in Finland! The new 30 zero-emissions BYD eBuses will join Nobina’s existing fleet of around 300 BYD eBuses in the Nordics.

In retrospect, BYD built the largest electric bus fleet in Finland for Nobina last year. Moreover, BYD and Nobina entered into a further agreement in early 2022 to purchase 30 buses. By the end of the year, certain vehicles are expected to be in use in Helsinki.

We're so proud that Finland's Nobina–the largest public transport operator in the Nordics–has awarded us with yet another order of 30 BYD eBuses! These 30 eBuses will join Nobina's existing fleet of 300 BYD eBuses in late 2022, servicing the Helsinki area. pic.twitter.com/hpsFpPejM6

BYD’s presence in the Nordic region

In the Nordic region, over 650 BYD fully electric buses are already in use or on order. BYD claimed that it had driven a total of 55 million kilometers while cutting CO2 emissions by over 59,000 tons.

BYD Regional Manager Nordics Edison Yin stated:

“We expect to introduce even more non-polluting BYD eBuses to Norway providing clean, zero-emission local public transportation.”

The leading NEV maker had a record-breaking 217,816 NEVs in October. In fact, over 200,000 units have been sold by BYD for the second month in a row.

Both passenger cars and commercial vehicles are included in BYD’s NEV lineup, albeit the latter only contributes little to sales. BYD reportedly sold 217,518 passenger cars in October, compared to just 298 commercial vehicles.

Sales of commercial vehicles at BYD have reached 4,225 units thus far this year, a decrease of 4% from 4,404 units during the same period last year.
