Japanese legacy automaker Nissan recently introduced a new Ariya performance trim level at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 from January 12-14, 2023.
Excitingly, the Ariya NISMO featured higher power output and styling updates from the automaker’s only modern all-electric vehicle model. However, it will initially cater to the Japanese market without any details on a potential global launch.
Power and performance
The Nissan Ariya NISMO has a higher output than the standard Ariya electric car. According to Nissan, the NISMO trim renders “dynamic yet smooth” power delivery.
It will also offer standard Ariya’s battery options, including the 66 kWh and 91 kWh. The B6 e-4ORCE variant of the Ariya NISMO will feature a 66 kWh battery pack that enables an output of 362 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, according to Paultan.org. It indicates a 27 hp increase from the standard trim.
Meanwhile, the B9 e-4ORCE will get a larger battery pack that generates 429 hp and 600 Nm of torque, up 40 hp from the standard Ariya.
It also has a new “NISMO drive mode” that enables faster acceleration and responsiveness, with an artificial cabin noise that sounds similar to that of Formula E race cars.
Exterior design
As you can see in the photos, the new Ariya NISMO appears to be a body kit-clad variant of the standard Ariya. It sports a set of fancy 20-inch aluminum wheels that Nissan claims to generate “superior stability and turn-in ability as well as better line-tracing and enhanced cornering ability at high speeds.”
Its exterior design remains identical to the standard variant, but it has body kits that enable a sportier look. It also has a splitter, a rear diffuser, side skirts, and red trim accents.
In addition, the new trim features a lip spoiler above its unique taillights.
Interior features
The interior design offers NISMO seats and trim with red piping, giving you a luxurious feel. It features a black theme with a combination of red-colored trims and suede-finished seats.
Its steering wheel also has a red accent to match the overall design. On the other hand, its dashboard features a NISMO badge near the climate controls.
Nissan has yet to reveal the official pricing and other specifications of the Ariya NISMO. It would also be intriguing to know if the new model trim will hit the US or other key markets across the world in the future. As of now, we only know about his domestic launch in Japan.
