NIO announced it had completed initial coverage of central Hubei province with a new battery swap station that went online on November 27 along the G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Highway.
Currently, NIO has 25 battery swap stations in Hubei, which connects 16 cities and covers several highways.
The brand’s new battery swap station in Hubei is located about 200 meters from an entrance on the G42 highway and can serve urban drivers and those traveling on the highway, as per CnEVPost.
Notably, this is the latest development in NIO’s efforts to build a battery swap stations network throughout China.
On November 20, NIO said that it had completed initial coverage of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River urban cluster through 42 battery swap stations in 39 cities in Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi.
And on November 27, NIO had 1,235 battery swap stations in China, 330 of which are along highways.

The automaker also has 2,130 charging stations in China offering 12,375 charging piles, and its charging map has more than 600,000 third-party charging piles access.

The company aims to have more than 1,300 battery swap stations in China by the end of 2022.
By 2025 it will have more than 4,000 battery swap stations worldwide, with 1,000 overseas.
“The company has already provided 14 million battery swap services, and currently offers the service an average of more than 30,000 times a day,” the company said when it announced that it had reached 1,200 battery swap stations.
90% battery swap station by 2025
As of November 6, 2022, 66.23% of NIO owners had at least one battery swap station within 3 km of their homes. According to the manufacturer, it aims to have that percentage at 90% by 2025.
