NIO, a Chinese EV startup, announced its expansion plans on 25 countries and regions all over the world in December 2021 by 2025.
NIO is currently working to launch in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark this year, while Norway was its first export market in 2021. For the year 2023, reports claim that NIO plans to enter nine European markets including Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
Although the automaker has not yet revealed an official timeline, the map presented last December 2021 showed the inclusion of US, Australia, France, and Japan markets, leading to rumors that NIO has plans to enter the US market in 2025.
NIO is believed to launch its first battery swap station in the United States in November 2022 for testing, and it will be placed behind its headquarters in San Jose, California, according to a trusted source. The report further claimed that NIO has four ES8 electric SUV models under testing in San Jose, California although its Autonomous Driving system is not yet operating in the country.
These rumors were even strengthened by the automaker’s first job vacancies post for NIO Houses in the United States last month. However, people should still be skeptical of all of these rumors in the lack of official confirmation from the company.
