Tesla’s Model 3 Performance clocks impressive drag times

Early owners are starting to discover that the new top-tier variant of the updated electric sedan is not just an upgrade but more like a scaled-down version of the high-performance Plaid Tesla.

It boasts a significant improvement from its predecessor with solid specifications, including a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds, 163 mph top speed, and 303-mile EPA-estimated range.

While Tesla’s performance EVs boast impressive speeds, some of its cars, like the Model S Plaid, tend to require specific conditions to reach their peak acceleration. For reference, the Tesla Model S Plaid claims a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 1.99 seconds.

Impressively, the new Tesla Model S Performance seems to eliminate the need for ideal conditions to hit its peak acceleration.

As shown by X user @Nico_G36, the new Tesla Model 3 Performance achieved 10.92 seconds in a quarter-mile on regular roads at 124.14 mph. It also hit a 0-60 mph time of 2.93 seconds.

The Tesla Model 3 Performance’s performance in the quarter-mile run on regular roads is indeed remarkable, given its capability to complete such runs straight out of the factory.

Pricing advantage

The Tesla Model 3 Performance also sells for an enticing $54,990, excluding federal tax credits in the United States.

Therefore, it will further drop to $42,490 with the $7,500 federal tax credits and 5-year gas savings of $5,000, according to the official online configurator.

At this price point, customers will find it challenging to spot another EV with the same performance and technology as the Tesla Model 3’s best-in-class variant.
