American billionaire Elon Musk’s tunnel construction services company, The Boring Company, has just achieved its 2 million passenger milestone in its inaugural loop in Las Vegas. It is indeed a significant achievement, considering that it has only been a little over a year since it hit its first million passengers.
The Boring Company celebrates 2 millionth passenger ride
The Boring Company proudly announced on Friday that it had achieved 2 million passenger rides on the popular social media platform X.
Impressively, it reached its first million milestone only in March last year. Therefore, the company only took slightly more than a year to hit its second million-passenger ride.
Notably, The Boring Company is currently only offering rides in its Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) loop. It was the company’s first underground ride-hailing network. Attached to the X post below is the company’s map of approved stations and completed LVCC loop (in orange highlight):
Revolutionizing urban transportation with tunnels
Elon Musk’s infrastructure, tunnel construction services, and equipment company seeks to revolutionize urban transportation by offering innovative underground rides to its customers.
On its official website, the Boring Company emphasized the advantages of underground riding compared to other innovations like flying cars.
“To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels are needed. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight, and won’t fall on your head.”

In addition, it highlighted the ease of developing such tunnels, as they do not overlap with the existing infrastructure.
“Tunnels minimize usage of valuable surface land and do not conflict with existing transportation systems. A large network of tunnels can alleviate congestion in any city; no matter how large a city grows, more levels of tunnels can be added.”

Eyeing expansion after major milestone
In January, reports emerged claiming that The Boring Company acquired a new 1.8-acre plot of land in Las Vegas to expand the first loop.
The company reportedly plans to connect the system to the numerous planned stations across the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Notably, the current LVCC loop apparently has a maximum capacity of carrying over 4,500 passengers per hour. It equates to approximately 32,000 passengers daily, as per its official web page.
In addition, it is also developing a new project at Tesla’s Giga Texas in Austin. It utilizes its Prufrock tunnel boring machine (TBM) to build an underground passageway at the factory.
