Nespresso, the world’s most sustainable coffee firm in 2021, has sought Mober Technology PTE Inc.’s electric vehicles to shift away from its current delivery fleet of ICE vehicles, as reported by Business World. The partnership benefits both parties as it aligns with their individual targets.
Manila Bulletin reported that this partnership is a crucial part of Mober’s mission to be Southeast Asia’s biggest green logistics firm in five years, as it strives to launch 100 e-vans and e-trucks by the end of this year. Meanwhile, it also aids Nespresso to continue its sustainability efforts.
Purpose
As mentioned, Mober aims to decarbonize on-ground delivery by embracing the use of EVs in its operations. On the other hand, Nespresso seeks to cut CO2 emissions in its delivery operations.
As of now, the tech logistics startup has already deployed 20 e-vans and e-trucks, which it uses to serve some of the country’s largest firms. It includes IKEA for last-mile delivery, SM Appliance Center for same-day delivery, and Nespresso for warehouse-to-store delivery since December 2022.
“We aim to catalyze a transition to zero-emissions mid and last-mile delivery in the Philippines. By switching to electric vehicles, Nespresso is set to eliminate hundreds of tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions yearly, and this is just the beginning for us.”

Mober’s EV fleet
In retrospect, Mober deployed its first EVs in October 2021 as it aims to offer a sustainable option for clients. Remarkably, its e-vans have a range of 230km, while its e-trucks have 280 km. With this, the company can offer choices to its clients based on their logistical demands. Furthermore, the EVs are equipped with fast-charging li-ion batteries.
As all EVs do, they produce no carbon dioxide as opposed to ICE vehicles. Mober CEO also noted that EVs offer lower operating costs and maintenance requirements, which can result in long-term cost savings.
Mober currently accepts partnerships and bookings for its clients, instead of selling their EVs, for a senseful reason.
“Monitoring the CO2 offset for our EV fleet can serve as a conscious reminder for businesses looking to go green to reflect on using EVs soonest. This will also help us save the data for future use and reach our net zero goal target.”

Mober expects that its efforts to expand its EV fleet will be aided by Executive Order No. 12, which grants zero tariffs for EVs for five years. Meanwhile, the DOE predicts that 10 percent of all registered vehicles in the nation will be electrified by 2040.
“A delivery driver typically commutes 200 km per day and consumes 16.4 liters of petrol per day, thus emitting 40.2 kg in CO2 emissions for an ICE delivery vehicle. Assuming the same range applied to a single Mober EV delivery vehicle, daily CO2 emissions can be reduced by 14kg or 35%.”
