British automotive brand Mini is on track to officially introduce the new Mini Aceman next month. Unfortunately for the parent company BMW, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has already inadvertently leaked key information about the new battery electric subcompact crossover SUV, BMW Blog reported.

MIIT releases Mini Aceman’s document

Automakers seeking to homologate their products in China must submit the final production design of the particular model to MIIT. The Chinese government agency releases the documents occasionally, with BMW’s Mini Aceman being the latest subject to this regulatory process.

The images of the domestically-produced MINI Aceman have been revealed. As MINI's new all-electric compact SUV, the vehicle is set to debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. It will be available in two powertrain versions:

The leaked information about the upcoming Mini Aceman came ahead of BMW’s planned debut on April 24, 2024.

Design

As you can see in the final homologation photos, the new Aceman looks like a “mini” Countryman Electric due to the similar front-end octagonal grille and light design.

The leaked document revealed two variants, including the standard Aceman and the Aceman S. The latter variant has a rose gold trim and a green “S” badge up front. It also features more premium LED headlights with unique lighting signatures. It also sports a silvery bronze-colored trim around the faux grille and bumper trim. The model’s tailgate also carries the S mark.

On the other hand, the standard variant looks bland. Nonetheless, both variants will come with a wide range of aesthetic enhancements, like different side mirror colors, multiple decal patterns, and a 17- to 19-inch wheel design.

Presented below are the dimensions of the upcoming Mini Aceman:

We can expect to learn the specifications of the model’s John Cooper Works version on the model’s unveiling.

Power and performance

The MIIT’s released document also indicated the new Mini Aceman’s key specifications, giving us an idea about its power and performance as an all-electric vehicle. Refer to the table below:

BMW plans to officially introduce the Mini Aceman on April 24, 2024. It must be noted that this leaked information contains the model’s Chinese specifications. Therefore, its US-spec models may differ.

Great Wall Motors will produce the Mini Aceman for the Chinese market without a gas-powered model. Elsewhere, the electric subcompact crossover SUV will undergo production in the UK.
