Electric vehicle conversion specialist Lunaz Design
will bring the converted, all-electric 1961 Bentley S2 Continental to the 2023 Concours on London’s Savile Row on May 24-25, Express reports.
Interestingly, the report noted that only 400 S2 Continental models exist, which are recognized as the “high-performance” versions of the standard S2.
Lunaz’s conversion of the 1961 Bentley S2 Continental
The S2 Continental initially had a V8 engine, which Lunaz replaced with an all-electric power at the company’s production and research base at Silverstone. The project resulted in an all-new Bentley S2 Continental EV that sports a 400 bhp powertrain, delivering 530 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds.
Lunaz also improved the car’s interior by replacing the leather with sustainable materials. For instance, it used a seat leather tanned from naturally fallen olive leaves. The company also made the car’s carpet from 100% restored nylon fiber and wood veneers from authorized sources. Meanwhile, the backing is produced from 100% recycled plastic bottles.
Notably, this EV conversion approach aligns with one of Lunaz’s primary purposes: to dodge the “replace-with-new” cycle.
Apart from electrifying old polluting cars, Lunaz also executes its sustainability efforts in the other aspect of the project. For instance, some of the car’s old leather is used to customize a pair of leather shoes for the owner.
“We restore, enhance and create with knowledge that these cars have cultural value far beyond their function. The passion we have for these cars can be felt in every stitch, weld and line of code.”

Lunaz founder David Lorenz commended the alignment of Lunaz’s recent work with the S2 Continental and the Concours on Savile Row, even saying that it is the “perfect setting.”
“In just two years, Concours on Savile Row has established itself as one of the most stylish events of its kind on the automotive calendar and provides a perfect setting in which to display our most significant classic car elevated by Lunaz to date.
Like Lunaz, Savile Row blends bespoke craft, timeless style, and a respect for tradition and legacy with a commitment to new thinking, materials, and techniques.
This intersection of the classic and the ultra-modern is a fascinating space to work in: we’re delighted to be part of this celebration of the highest forms of our respective arts.”
