Lucid Motors unveiled the production-specification Air Pure base model and Air Touring mid-range model at the LA Auto Show.
Notably, the EV startup also revealed that the Air Pure and Air Touring development had improved the coefficient of drag for Lucid Air models to 0.197, compared to 0.2 previously. That makes the luxury EV the most aerodynamically efficient production car.
Beginning with the Lucid Air Pure is the most affordable model in the lineup, with a starting price of $87,400 MSRP (plus $1,650 shipping) for the single-motor RWD variant that will show up in 2023.
Currently, a dual-motor AWD powertrain is available that delivers 480 hp (358 kW) and a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. This configuration begins at $92,900 (plus $1,650 shipping).
Furthermore, the model showcases Lucid’s Long Range Battery Pack. The company’s lightest, most compact battery pack, with 18 modules in contrast to the 22 modules in the Extended Range Pack.
Lucid Air Pure
As a result, the Lucid Air Pure provides more leg and foot room in the back than models with the Extended Range Pack while reaching an EPA-estimated 410 miles (660 km) range in all-wheel-drive form.
The 900-volt in-house designed Wunderbox technology adds up to 200 miles (322 km) of range in only 15 minutes of charging.
DreamDrive & DreamDrive Pro
The Lucid Air Pure comes as standard with the DreamDrive advanced driver assistance system and can be upgraded to DreamDrive Pro, including 32 sensors that are all integrated seamlessly.
DreamDrive Pro includes Blind Spot Display, Highway Assist, and Surround View Monitoring.
The Lucid Air Pure is recognizable with its all-aluminum roof with a new Fathom Blue paint color, no glass section, and the Mojave PurLuxe interior that blends a durable and soft leather alternative with a unique and high-quality fabric ‘Dune,’ made from 100% recycled woven textile.
The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Air Pure production starts next month, with initial customer deliveries expected before the end of 2022.
Lucid Air Touring
Lucid Air Touring offers more power and range for a starting price of $107,400 (plus $1,650 shipping).
The Touring model comes with the same 18-module Long-Range Battery Pack. Hence, a more roomy rear passenger compartment. It offers a slightly improved EPA-estimated range rating of 425 miles (684 km).
According to the company, the Touring gives the highest driving efficiency of any Lucid Air, with 4.62 miles per kWh. The battery comes with a dual-motor AWD system that provides 620 hp (462 kW) and can accelerate the vehicle from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in only 3.4 seconds.
Regarding styling, the Lucid Air Touring comes with a standard solid aluminum roof and an optional Glass Canopy. Inside, it comes with seating surfaces wrapped in Nappa full-grain leather, combined with recycled textiles and synthetics and sustainably-harvested wood accents with an open pore finish.
The Air Touring model production has started, and the company delivered the first example to a consumer at Lucid Studio Beverly Hills.
