In Las Vegas, Lennar’s new development called “The Arches” is launching a neighborhood of Tesla-powered houses, as reported by Electrek. Fifty-one new homes are part of the project, and each one has the following features installed: solar panels, Tesla Powerwall, and two electric vehicle charging stations.
“With incredible energy-saving initiatives and well-designed floorplans, The Arches has something for households at any stage in life. This community is ideal for anyone looking to live a more eco-conscious lifestyle and take advantage of the year-round sunshine that the Las Vegas Valley has to offer.”
Lennar Division Vice President, Joy Broddle
Notably, the solar and battery installations are being handled by Sunnova, a Tesla Powerwall installation partner on The Arches project.
Tesla neighborhoods in the US
It is worth noting that this is not the first community to develop a subdivision powered by Tesla technologies in the United States. However, it is anticipated to be prevalent throughout the country, given that it continues to be a trend.
For instance, Brookfield Asset Management and Dacra’s project covers about 12,000 new homes in Austin, Texas, with Tesla’s solar roofs and Powerwall units.
About Tesla Powerwalls
Tesla Powerwalls continuously store extra solar energy collected through the solar panels. Depending on how the homeowner configures it, it can be used at night, during peak times, or during power outages. According to Lennar, the Tesla Powerwall units installed in the new Tesla neighborhood are said to be utilized for backup power and peak shaving.
“The Tesla Powerwall is a fully integrated AC battery system that acts as a partial home backup. Excess solar power is stored in the Powerwall during the day to use at night, during peak rate times, or during a power outage depending on how the homeowner has the configuration set. In the case of a power outage, the Powerwall alone will keep the refrigerator running, keep the most critical lights on, power your garage door and allow internet and streaming access.”

Undoubtedly, Tesla’s technologies are catching up to its automotive industry. Tesla has been able to provide power-saving solutions in new communities owing to these kinds of developments. In return, it has reaped significant gains with the increased production and installation of its Powerwalls and Megapacks.
