Ayvens and BYD partner to electrify European fleets

According to the Ayvens’ press release, BYD has forged a new overseas partnership to expand its presence in the European market.

BYD formally signed a memorandum of understanding with Ayvens during a ceremony at BYD’s global headquarters in Shenzhen on July 2, 2024.

The partnership primarily aims to “support the distribution” of electric passenger and light commercial vehicles to European corporate and retail customers.

Providing comprehensive EV fleet solutions

BYD and Ayvens are committed to providing the most comprehensive EV fleet solutions, ensuring that every aspect of the transition to electric vehicles is covered with the highest standards of quality and reliability.

As part of this groundbreaking partnership, Ayvens’ global and local corporate customers in Europe will gain access to a wide range of benefits. These include electric vehicle fleet solutions, advisory services, operational leases, and end-to-end charging services, all backed by BYD’s full range of electric vehicle models.

Ayvens will also provide leasing services to small and medium-sized companies and individual customers through BYD’s enormous dealer network. It will initially become available in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, gradually expanding to other markets in the region.

The two parties also seek to explore more prospects in the retail industry and further enhance the partnership to aid Europe’s transition to electric mobility, Ayvens noted.

“Innovation and collaboration are key drivers in progressing the global transition to new energy vehicles. Our cooperation with Ayvens reflects our mutual vision to accelerate the development of NEV markets in Europe.”

BYD’s unwavering expansion push

BYD’s move to partner with Ayvens demonstrates its dedication to expanding its footprint in the global market despite the new import tariff in the European Union.

In France, BYD already participated in a local automotive show about two years ago. However, it has not made any moves since then. It showcased its Atto 3, Tang, and Han passenger electric cars at the Paris auto show on October 17, 2022.

BYD seeks to team up with established local dealerships that carry the same vision it upholds for customer service.

In H1 2024, BYD’s NEV sales reached a total of 1,612,983 units. It represents a remarkable 28.46% year-on-year increase, according to CnEVPost’s data compilation. Likewise, its exports grew by a whopping 173.80% to 203,404 NEVs in the first half of the year.

The new partnership will undoubtedly aid the broader shift to electric mobility in Europe. However, importing EVs in the region remains a challenge to BYD, considering it faces an additional 17.4% import tariff on top of the current 10% rate.
