Italian legacy automaker Lamborghini is advancing its electrification strategy with the upcoming debut of its new all-electric concept car at the Monterey Car Week on August 18.
In hindsight, the automaker initially launched the hybrid Revuelto as its maiden offering in the electric vehicle segment a few years ago. Now, it is set to introduce its battery-powered Lambo publicly before launching it in the market.
Lamborghini announced that the concept electric car it plans to exhibit at the automotive event next week signifies the “first prototype of our fourth series production car.” It also previously disclosed plans to launch the new 2+2 grand tourer EV in 2028 as it aims to catch up in the rapidly growing industry.
What’s currently known about the electric Lambo concept car?
Lamborghini has yet to reveal the appearance and designs of “the new concept of its first 100 percent electric car.” However, some speculate that the concept car might be a 4-seat GT if it would really be a prototype of a new production vehicle.
It also marks the automaker’s second 100% EV concept following the debut of the Terzo Millenio. It also follows the company’s recent four-seat concept cars, including the Estoque and the Asterion.
Interestingly, CEO Stephan Winkelmann disclosed that the new all-electric concept car from Lamborghini will not utilize its in-house platform. It will instead use Volkswagen Group’s vehicle components.
