Brief background

The Kia EV6, launched in August 2021, is the first dedicated electric vehicle to ride on the E-GMP platform developed by parent company Hyundai. Now, it is set to receive a facelift after just three years since its official launch.

The facelift will include a sporty new GT variant, which the brand introduced in 2022 as its “most powerful” car yet. Starting at $61,600, it boasts a maximum output of 576 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

Kia's new EV6 GT, debuting later this year, boasts 576 hp and 0-60 mph in 3.4 secs. Outruns Ferrari Roma & Lamborghini Hurcan EVO, starting at $61,600. Refresh includes an 84 kWh battery for a 313-mile range, with an expected 370 miles in the U.S.. pic.twitter.com/w5RTgRDGVf

Kia’s most powerful EV stuns in a spy video

In hindsight, Kia already previewed the facelifted EV6 earlier this month. It teased some new design elements, including new daytime running lights with the brand’s “Star Map Signature Lightning.”

A recent 360-degree video published by South Korean YouTuber ShortsCar gave us a close look at the upcoming Kia electric sports car. As you can notice, Kia enhanced the EV6 GT’s silhouette and rear/front map designs.

In addition, the EV6 was easily distinguishable from the other two EVs unveiled during Kia’s first annual EV day last October, based on its lighting alone.

Technical details

Following the facelifted Kia EV6’s certification in South Korea, new data revealed that it will use an 84 kWh battery pack like the updated Hyundai IONIQ 5.

TheKoreanCarBlog claims that the new battery pack can deliver a driving range of up to 505 km (313 miles) in South Korea. It apparently indicates a 24 km (15 miles) range improvement compared to the current-gen model.

The Kia EV6’s driving range could increase to up to 370 miles EPA range when it hits the US market, a notable jump from the current long-range models’ 310 miles range. In Europe, it may deliver around 600 km WLTP-rated driving range.

The GT trim yields up to 576 horsepower. It can also accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

Kia announced up to $9,000 in Customer Cash to clear 2024 EV6 inventory. If we add the $7,500 EV lease bonus, costs start as low as $229/month for two years. Kia also entices customers to buy the model with 0% APR for 60 months and owner loyalty incentives.
