South Korean automaker Kia reported a year-on-year growth of 11% to 278,275 units in its global sales in March 2023.
In Q1 2023, it enjoyed a YoY sales increase of 12% to 767,700 units, as per report.
Kia EV6 wholesale sales in March 2023
As for its best-selling model, the Kia EV6 reported wholesale sales of 11,072 units (close to production) in March. That figure represents a YoY increase of 44% and marks the company’s first five-digit record so far.
Of that total, 3,009 units were sold to South Korea, marking Kia’s second-highest sales ever. Meanwhile, 8,063 units were exported to foreign markets, setting a new high.
Interestingly, the numbers displayed the first seven Kia EV9 (export) units. This brand-new model just launched and will be made in the United States.
Year-to-date, Kia reported wholesale sales of 36,800 EV6 units, representing a YoY growth of 29%.

Kia sold 5,756 EV6 retail units beyond South Korea, including 988 units in the US in March.
Meanwhile, Kia’s other EV models, such as the Niro and Kia Soul, reported another YoY retail sales decline beyond South Korea. Niro EV sold 4,553 units, down 33%. Kia Soul sold 294 units, down 67% YoY.
