Chinese automaker JAC is set to launch a significant move of its own after serving as NIO’s contract manufacturer. According to local news outlet Autohome, the all-new JAC Hunter electric pickup will officially debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show in April 2024.

Exterior design

JAC already showed off the Hunter EV pickup at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show from November 17 to 26. However, the company updated the new model since then.

Some of the changes include a new front face with a closed grille and split headlights. As for the dimensions, the model has a length of 5.62 m (221″), width of 1.97 m (78″), and height of 1.92 m (76″). The Hunter EV also has an extra-long” cargo bed of 1.81 m (~ 6 ft).

It will likely compete against the popular Toyota Tacoma, considering the Japanese vehicle’s 212″ – 226″ length, 78″ width, and 75″ height.

In addition, it has 8″ “dragon-scale” alloy wheels that improve its contemporary exterior appearance.

Interior features

Inside, the JAC Hunter EV promises to deliver a “generous driving space.” It has a T-shaped infotainment, including a 7″ LCD instrument display.

In addition, it is packed with a 3.0 in-car system. It supports dual-mode navigation and over-the-air updates. Moreover, the new Hunter EV will also include “super wireless fast charging” and 220V power supply, among others.

JACS’ new electric pickup will also sport slick materials, piano lacquer-finished air vents, camel-gray brushed trim panels, etc.

Technical specs

The JAC Hunter EV will come with a dual electric motor four-wheel drive configuration that generates a maximum output of 70/160 kW and 176/342 Nm max torque.

It will also feature an 88.02 kWh battery that enables a CLTC-estimated range of more than 310 miles (500 km). It will ride on the JAC’s new wide-body pickup platform.

The imminent arrival of JAC’s Hunter EV will mark a significant advancement in China’s electric truck market. JAC has yet to reveal more details about the electric pickup’s final designs and key specifications.

As of now, we can only wait for the JAC Hunter EV’s debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show to learn more details. It will take place at the China International Exhibition Center Shunyi New Venue in Beijing from April 25, 2024.
