Tesla‘s global pilot program that opened Superchargers to all-electric vehicles in November last year has now been expanded to Italy, as reported by InsideEVs.
Tesla mobile app
The notification “This Supercharger is open to Tesla vehicles and non-Tesla vehicles with CCS compatibility” has been added to the supercharger map in the Tesla mobile app.
It is important to note that not all Supercharger stations serve non-Tesla EVs. That said, the Tesla app must be installed and utilized by non-Tesla owners to determine which stations could welcome them. It must also be used to begin their charge session.
As stated on the Tesla app, the CCS Combo 2 (CCS2) charging standard is required for electric vehicles to use the charger. Apart from that, the Tesla app displays costs that may adjust automatically over time.
“As energy markets evolve, supercharger rates will adjust more regularly, allowing owners to reap savings when energy costs fall. Owners can view rates at a local station at any time on their touchscreen.”
Which Superchargers accept non-Tesla EVs?
The list of Superchargers that accept all-electric vehicles as of November 17th, ordered from north to south, is as follows:

Superchargers for all EVs in 15 European countries
Non-Tesla EVs may recharge at Superchargers in 15 countries across Europe. Italy followed Iceland, which was enlisted by Tesla in September.
Here is a list of all markets covered by the pilot program:
- France
- The Netherlands
- Norway
- UK
- Spain
- Sweden
- Belgium
- Austria
- Denmark
- Finland
- Germany
- Luxembourg
- Switzerland
- Iceland
- Italy
Tesla previously declared that it wants all-electric vehicles to have access to its Supercharging network in the long run. However, many factors need to be considered before extending the network to non-Tesla EVs, such as the following:
- charging connector compatibility
- layout (short charging cables)
- marketing (exclusivity of Supercharging)
- profitability
- supporting infrastructures
Officially, it is still a test program to determine how non-Tesla drivers utilize the Supercharger. However, it has since surpassed its specific areas and continues to expand.
