The President of Indonesia visited Elon Musk on May 15 after talks about Nickel.
Jokowi Widodo, the President of Indonesia, met Tesla CEO Elon Musk on May 15 in Texas to discuss potential investments and technology sharing prospects, the Indonesian government said on Sunday.
According to Indonesian officials who told Reuters, the meeting between Musk and Jokowi came after a round of talks on a potential investment in the nickel industry and the supply of batteries for electric vehicles.
Jokowi said in a tweet: “After a discussion in his office, @ElonMusk invited me to visit the location of the Space X rocket production facility in Boca Chica, United States. For an hour we took a close look at the Space X rocket factory. I have also invited Elon Musk to come to Indonesia.”
Last week, representatives from Tesla visited Indonesia for meetings over a potential battery-related investment, Indonesian officials and two people familiar with the talks said.
Jokowi attended a meeting of leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and has traveled to meet Musk at the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas. He also invited Musk to visit Indonesia in November, where Jokowi will host a summit of the Group of 20 big economies in Bali.
Indonesian government quoted Musk saying, “Hopefully in November.” Musk also said there could be room for “partnerships in many things because Indonesia has a lot of potential”, the statement also said.
Last April, Indonesian delegates met with Elon Musk to discuss a potential Nickel deal.
