Sales of electric vehicles seems to be around 10 lakh units in 2022, equal to total number of sales in last 15
years, this is due to significant demands of e2W (electric two wheeler).
As per Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) in India Sales of electric is doubled compare to last year.
As per SMEV Director General Sohinder Gill, sales of EV (e2w,e-three wheelers,e-cars & e-buses) is going to be 1 million which is equal to last 15 years collective volumes.
Recent positive changes in EV policy through FAME II are game changers and Government’s initiatives to ensure cleaner and greener transportations reducing dependency on expensive and dirty liquid fuel, he added.
Customer are now started buying electric two-wheelers due to attractive prices, lower running and maintenance cost. Few customers are interested to shift to EV due to environmental awareness.
EV industry will see five to six times growth in next one year compare to last year, as predicted by SMEV Director General.
Gill said in the next two to three years, India is expected to have products across all segments, ranging from e-scooters, e-motorcycles,& e-cycles from large and organized players, in next four to five years 30 % two wheeler market will be purely electric only, there is huge potential in EV industry
