Hyundai INSTER EV preview

Hyundai previewed the first photos of the new INSTER EV to stimulate interest before its debut at the upcoming Busan International Mobility Show.

According to the press release, the upcoming new model will arrive as an A-segment sub-compact electric vehicle.

The South Korean automaker derived the “INSTER” name from the words “intimate” and “innovative.” It is apparently an evolution from the traditional CASPER car Hyundai launched in its home market in 2021.

Hyundai reveals teaser images of the Inster, a subcompact EV based on the Korean Casper. Targeting a 220-mile (355 km) range, it may start around $22,000.

Design

As you can observe in the released teaser photos, the Hyundai INSTER EV has some similarities with the CASPER. However, it has modern touches as an electric vehicle.

It features a strong yet compact SUV built with the South Korean brand’s legacy LED daytime running lights. It also has pixel-graphic turn signals and tail lamps to establish its distinctive design.

The pattern of the pixelated turn indicators mirrors the Hyundai Kona Electric’s DRLs. Meanwhile, its new DRLs in the round headlamps give the rear end an extra-rugged appearance.

On the sides, the Hyundai INSTER seems to feature new four-spoke aero wheels and black wheel arch mouldings.

Performance

Hyundai asserted that the New INSTER EV will “set new standards” in driving range, technology, and safety.

It even teased that the low-cost EV will have a WLTP-rated driving range of 355 km (220 miles) between charges.

Apart from the expected driving range, Hyundai has not yet revealed any more information about the new model’s technical details.

Hyundai also omitted from sharing the official pricing of the new INSTER. However, for reference, the CASPER costs below $15,000 in the South Korean market.

Hyundai will officially reveal the new affordable INSTER EV at the Busan International Mobility Show later this month.

Considering the growing demand for affordable EVs among American customers, it would be strategic for the Tesla rival to launch the new INSTER EV in the US market.
