South Korean legacy automaker Hyundai released a brief teaser video for the new Ioniq 5 N NPX1 concept to announce its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 12, 2024.
Teaser video highlights
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N NPX1 is set to advance as a “race-ready” version of the high-performance electric vehicle model.
As you can see in the 32-second teaser video, the rear wing’s size is very different from the standard Ioniq 5 N.
It features a comprehensive body kit and wild aerodynamics, as shown by the enormous front splitter and rear diffuser.
It also seems to have carbon mirror caps and other improvements like blue brake calipers.
Official debut
Following the video teaser, Hyundai unveiled the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N NPX1 concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon today.
The move is part of the company’s efforts to improve the high-performance EV ownership experience with its N Performance parts.
As you can see in the images, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N’s modified version with prototype N Performance parts has the following exterior features:
- restyled fender flares
- a revamped front bumper
- a redesigned side skirt
- massive rear diffuser
- more prominent spoiler
It will apparently offer various N Performance parts or body kits, including the following:
- carbon front splitter
- side skirts
- rear diffuser
- rear wing spoiler
- lightweight hybrid carbon wheels
- high-performance brake pads
- lowering springs
Notably, the N logo is placed on the side skirts and rear spoiler.
Availability
Hyundai reportedly announced that the body kits of the NPX1 concept will undergo further development to prepare for imminent sales launch sometime this year.
Hyundai N aims to expand the N Performance parts’ availability by beginning with the Ioniq 5 N, with plans to gradually include all N models.
“In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will take a step forward as a leader in new tuning parts suitable for the high-performance EV era as demonstrated with the ‘NPX1’ concept model. Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customization such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA updates which will open a completely new category of EV customization for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community.”

Unfortunately, there are currently no available details about the NXP1’s upgrades’ potential effect to the Ioniq 5 N’s £65,000 starting price. As mentioned, the new features are still under development and will hit the market later this year.
