Hyundai proudly announced that its first US-made EV rolled off the production line on February 21 at its Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama plant in Montgomery.
“Hyundai Motor Group has set a clear direction for the organization’s future mobility solutions that include innovative designs propelled by batteries or hydrogen fuel cells.
We are starting another amazing chapter in the history of HMMA with the launch of the Electrified GV70 sport utility vehicle in the United States.”
HMMA President and CEO, Ernie Kim
The announcement occurred just a few days after the brand unveiled the pricing for the all-new Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV on February 16.
HMMA executives, team members, Hyundai Motor Company and Genesis Motor America representatives, and public officials attended the celebration. The installation demo of the li-ion battery into the Electrified GV70 kicked off the event, which amazed the guests.
Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV
As mentioned, the Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV is the automaker’s first EV model to be developed in the US and beyond South Korea. Furthermore, it is the brand’s third EV, following the GV60 SUV and the all-electric G80.
“Genesis Motor Company brought the Electrified GV70 production to our assembly operation because we have proven our ability to build world-class automobiles.
Today, the Genesis brand is turning heads in the luxury vehicle marketplace thanks to amazing designs and leading safety and technology features across the entire vehicle lineup.”
HMMA President and CEO, Ernie Kim
Remarkably, the base price of the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 is $65,850. It has two 160 kW front and rear motors, a 77.4 kWh li-ion battery, and multi-charging at 400V/800V.
The production of the Genesis Electrified GV70 is indeed an essential part of the brand’s strategy to only develop all-electric models after 2025 and complete its 100% EV portfolio by 2030.
“Last year, we began our journey toward an all-electric future for Genesis. We introduced our first EV models, the GV60 SUV and the Electrified G80 executive sedan. Those models are the first steps toward becoming an all-electric brand by 2030.”
Ted Mengiste, VP of sales operations, Genesis Motor America
