South Korean automaker Hyundai enjoyed impressive sales figures for June 2023, with a surge in demand for their battery electric vehicles in the US.
Hyundai Motor America’s June and Q2 2023 Sales Report indicated a total of 69,351 vehicle sales in the country in the sixth month of 2023, representing a remarkable 10% year-over-year increase. In addition, Hyundai’s year-to-date sales of 394,613 vehicles signify a substantial 15% YoY growth.

Remarkably, the award-winning E-GMP-based Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 both had record-setting sales results in June 2023.
For reference, the Ioniq family also had impressive May results of a 78% YoY increase to 3,417 units.
Hyundai Ioniq family set new record highs in June 2023
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 reached a combined sales figure of 4,298 units in June. This achievement marks a remarkable 51% increase compared to the same period last year and sets a new monthly sales record.
Additionally, these two electric models accounted for 6.2% of Hyundai’s total sales volume.

As you can see in the table above, the electric crossover/SUV Ioniq 5 achieved an impressive 3,136 unit sales in June. Meanwhile, the electric sedan Ioniq 6 reached a notable 1,162-unit sales.
It is worth noting that the brand achieved these outstanding sales figures despite the models not being eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit for new purchases under the Inflation Reduction Act.
On the other hand, no specific sales data regarding the new Hyundai Kona Electric are available apart from a remarkable 239% YoY increase in June.

Hyundai Ioniq 5/Ioniq 6 sales in the US – YTD
The second quarter proved to be a robust period for Hyundai’s E-GMP-based BEV sales, as the company recorded 10,928 units sold, representing a substantial 47% YoY increase.
Year-to-date, Hyundai has sold over 16,800 units of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 in the US, reflecting a solid YoY sales growth of 23%.
