Japanese legacy automaker Honda is apparently planning to commence the initial customer deliveries of its impending all-electric SUV 2024 Prologue in early 2024, InsideEVs reports.
Background
The upcoming Honda Prologue model is co-developed by Honda and General Motors, enabling it to qualify for federal tax credits of up to $7,500. It will ride on GM’s Ultium platform, offering some similarities with Chevrolet models’ core battery/powertrain specifications.
As per the report, Honda aims to hit 70,000 unit sales for the Prologue per year. However, the Japanese automaker reduced that annual sales target to 60,000 units in 2024, which still seems to be ambitious.
Honda aims to launch its own developed e:Architecture and a new range of EVs later this decade. Therefore, the Honda Prologue is just a prologue.
Design
The 2024 Honda Prologue is a midsize all-electric SUV. It has a wheelbase of 121.8″ (3,093 mm) like the Ultium-based models Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV.
According to MotorTrend, the 2024 Honda Prologue features all the staples of the automaker’s current SUV design lingo. It has a muscular and sporty appearance. However, its greenhouse is lower, and its aerodynamics is more efficient than the Pilot and Passport models.
Its 192″ body length is almost similar to that of the Passport, but it has a longer wheelbase due to its short overhangs and well-proportioned doors. It will also have a different badging, with the typed-out logo using lowercase letters after “H.”
“Prologue design was led by a youthful, diverse team of designers in our Honda Design Studio in Los Angeles, who utilized virtual reality tools to create a neo-rugged design concept with simple and clean styling.”

Technical details
The 2024 Honda Prologue will be available in three variants, including the EX, Touring, and Elite. The EX and Touring will offer front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive powertrain (AWD) configurations. On the other hand, the top-tier variant Elite will only have an AWD setup.
All variants will feature an 85 kWh battery pack like the base Chevrolet Blazer EV. It would be exciting to see if the Honda Prologue will also come with a 102 kWh battery pack in the future as GM EVs’ do.
Honda revealed that it expects the base variant EX with 19″ wheels and FWD setup to reach an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. The company has yet to reveal more details about the upcoming 2024 Prologue.

Honda confirmed that the 2024 Prologue will hit the global market with an upper-$40,000 MSRP. Buyers can also access the IRA’s $7,500 federal tax credits, owing to the Honda-GM partnership in North America. The Prologue will also gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in the region with the integration of the NACS port by 2025.
