Chinese electric vehicle maker HiPhi has released the all-new electric crossover Y model in the world’s largest auto market, China.
The HiPhi Y is a mid-sized SUV that starts at ¥339,000 ($47,265). It is apparently the brand’s third offering after the HiPhi X and HiPhi Z.
About the HiPhi Y
Technical details
HiPhi offers two battery configurations for the new Y EV, including a 76.6 kWh and 115-kWh battery pack.
The smaller battery pack enables a CLTC-estimated driving range of 347 miles, while the bigger one boasts 503 miles.
It is worth noting that these CLTC ranges equate to about 250-370 miles in real-world range, given that this test cycle tends to overrate figures by 30% – 40%.
In addition, the automaker also equipped the Y with a dual motor that generates 497 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just around 4.5 seconds.
Meanwhile, the RWD variant generates an output of 331 horsepower. However, its acceleration time is yet to be revealed.
Exterior
The HiPhi Y’s dimensions are presented below:
- Length: 4938mm
- Width: 1958mm
- Height: 1658mm
- Wheelbase: 2950mm
This all-electric SUV features a straight-line design on its side. It also has raised taillights, an inclined front hood, and 21-inch wheels, efficiently contributing to its low front and high rear build.
As for the available body paint, customers can choose from silver, purple, red, green, gray, and white.
Interior
The HiPhi Y offers a five-seater interior, which is slightly different from the HiPhi X and HiPhi Z’s contemporary designs.
However, it still has the company’s trademark family-style wing doors or “mobile cloakroom.” Even more, it offers button-operated electric doors that autonomously close once the driver hits the brake.
The company ensures the EV’s safety with its radar system, 31 sensors, and eight airbags. As for entertainment, the HiPhi Y features a 17-inch OLED center display and a 15-inch HD touchscreen for passengers. Additionally, it also has a 2.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster for the driver.

HiPhi Y is also set to launch in the European market. The automaker plans to begin taking orders by the latter part of this year and start customer deliveries as early as 2024.
The model’s launch in China and its impending arrival in Europe will certainly aid the company’s goal of establishing a reputation in the global electric vehicle industry.
