Taiwanese EV batter-swapping firm Gogoro would soon penetrate the Singaporean market with its partnership with Cycle & Carriage Singapore (C&C) and German food delivery platform foodpanda, per the press release.
The move marks Gogoro’s latest B2B partnership as it aims to expand its business globally.
“With more than 26 percent of all daily quick deliveries in Taiwan enabled by Gogoro battery swapping, I am excited to be introducing our battery swapping and vehicle technologies in Singapore with two market-leading partners like Cycle & Carriage Singapore and foodpanda.”
Gogoro CEO and founder Horace Luke
About the pilot program
The pilot program would initially be on a small-scale level. Per the announcement, it would only cover two battery swapping stations equipped with 20 Gogoro Smartscooters.
The battery swapping stations are erected at C&C’s Service Centers at Alexandra and Ubi. Likewise, the service and maintenance center are also located there.
In retrospect, Gogoro and C&C already entered a partnership in September 2022 for the launch of the former’s six-second Swap & Go battery swapping. The partnership was awarded by Singapore Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) with a battery swapping sandbox pilot for two-wheel EVs.
Notably, this battery swapping technology makes replenishing for two-wheel delivery fleets easier and faster.
Now that foodpanda joins the partnership, the pilot program will be able to test Gogoro’s Smartscooters and battery swapping platform for last-mile deliveries.
“A sustainable future is one where we are all mindful of our actions and to achieve that, our individual efforts matter – starting from today.
At foodpanda, we have been working to make eco-friendlier vehicle options an affordable and practical choice for our riders, and are proud to report that to-date, over 50 percent of our riders conduct deliveries on greener transportation such as e-bikes and bicycles.
We’re excited to explore more ways for our riders to be sustainable with this partnership with C&C and Gogoro, and to continue to set the standard for sustainable practices in the delivery industry as we move towards Singapore’s vision of having all vehicles be powered by cleaner energy by 2040.”

Gogoro battery swapping and Smartscooter
As mentioned, Gogoro introduces its six-second battery swapping in Singapore. It would enable food delivery riders to save time from parking and charging as battery swapping can be done way faster. Essentially, their earning potential would not be compromised.
Per the pilot program, C&C would lease Gogoro 2 Series Smartscooters to foodpanda riders. The two-wheeler EV has a range of up to 100km with access to Gogoro’s battery swapping platform. The leasing package will also cover service and maintenance costs.
“Today, Cycle & Carriage offers EV options for passenger and commercial vehicles. We also offer e-Logistics services – a fleet of fully electric vans coupled with drivers, to provide customized delivery solutions for our corporate clients. We believe in Gogoro’s vehicles and battery-swapping technology, and they are complementary to our product portfolio. We are in the midst of ascertaining operational viability in Singapore and partnering with foodpanda to validate this through the trial is our current focus.”
Wilfrid Foo, Cycle & Carriage Singapore’s Managing Director
Notably, the Gogoro 2 that would be offered to foodpanda riders is equipped with the following technologies:
- Gogoro G2 Motor: an ultra-efficient, water-cooled engine that enables a 90km/h top speed
- Integration of Gogoro FLO Drive system and Gates® carbon belt for virtually silent riding
- Sophisticated braking system that increases road safety and control.
“Cities like Singapore are at an inflection point of sustainability and are beginning to embrace sustainable transportation in new impactful ways. On average, last mile delivery riders ride more than six-times the distance as consumer riders, so enabling these delivery riders to adopt smart sustainable electric transportation can have an accelerated impact on a city.”
Gogoro CEO and founder Horace Luke
Singapore is attempting to transition to a more sustainable and renewable energy-based transportation system. Therefore, the pilot program’s findings will be utilized to direct further actions to boost sustainable mobility uptake in the country.
