Taiwanese ridesharing firm Gogoro proudly announced Tuesday its successful entry into the Indian market with its battery-swapping technology and CrossOver Smartscooter Series.
Gogoro’s battery-swapping tech
According to the press release, Gogoro officially launched its battery-swapping network in Delhi and Goa. Customers can now immediately access the company’s innovative battery-swapping stations in the said locations.
However, it has no plans to stop there, as Mumbai and Pune Maharashtra are already set to follow in H1 2024.
CleanTechnica noted that Gogoro’s battery-swapping exhibits a new-gen swappable battery refueling technology owing to its remarkable qualities such as follows:
- Intelligence
- Safety
- Future-proofing to keep up with customers’ evolving needs and preferences
- Compact and light battery size
In addition, Gogoro’s swap stations are also small and light for easier installment across cities. It also allows customers to charge the Gogoro batteries at home overnight for more cost savings.
“Gogoro was uniquely created to introduce a mass market shift to sustainable energy in densely populated cities by establishing an intelligent battery-swapping ecosystem for vehicle refueling that is safe, scalable, and open. There has been significant demand in India for Gogoro battery swapping, Smartscooters and technologies and we are excited to be launching commercially with a variety of partners.
On average, last mile delivery riders ride more than six-times the distance as consumer riders, so enabling these delivery riders to adopt smart, sustainable electric transportation can have an accelerated impact on a city.”

CrossOver Series
As mentioned, Gogoro also launched its CrossOver Series in the Indian market. The mix includes three models: the CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S.
It stated that these CrossOvers ride on a revamped all-terrain frame that improves stability and comfort. It also boasts superior capabilities in terms of storage, riding, and customization.
As of now, customers can only acquire the CrossOver GX250 model. The other two models will follow later next year. Notably, the GX250 marks the company’s first-ever India-made scooter.
“The Gogoro CrossOver series embodies everything our brand has come to stand for and the new made-in-India CrossOver GX250 is optimized for riders in India with more seating space, greater storage and better ground clearance.”

Gogoro’s progress
Gogoro’s network successfully enrolled almost 600,000 riders with its ground-breaking technology in its home market, Taiwan.
It already built 12,000 battery swapping stations in more than 2,500 locations in the country.
As of this writing, the company has already deployed 1.3 million+ smart batteries in its network.
In addition, it currently boasts a daily battery-swapping rate of more than 400,000. So far, it already recorded a total of 510 million battery swaps since its launch.
All that said, its presence in the Indian market will significantly aid the country’s efforts to accelerate the shift toward more sustainable last-mile mobility. Considering the growing popularity of two-wheelers among Indian customers, swappable batteries and accessible swapping stations can substantially encourage more people to join the shift.
