The market for electric trucks is seeing increased competition as GMC officially unveiled its Supertruck on April 21 to take against Tesla’s Cybertruck.
Through its premium luxury unit GMC, General Motors aims to revitalize its electric “supertruck” with an all-new 3X trim for both the electric truck and SUV models.
With a maximum driving range of 355 GM-estimated miles, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV pickup 3X has been designed to go farther than the company’s first offerings.
The GMC Hummer EV, dubbed the “world’s first all-electric supertruck,” initially had a base price of $80,000 when it was first launched in October 2020. Nonetheless, it gained more than 65,000 pre-orders for both the SUV and pickup variants as of March 2022.
In January, GMC began building the 2024 Hummer EV SUV at GM’s Factory Zero. The facility in Michigan is the company’s first specialized EV assembly line.
GM has now provided new specifications for the 2023 GMC Hummer EV pickup and 2024 SUV models, including a new 3X trim. The move occurred after only selling two models through the first three months of 2023.
“GMC has long been a leader in professional-grade trucks and the GMC HUMMER EV continues to rock the establishment, setting new standards in technology, capability, and maneuverability.
Our unwavering goal was to develop an off-road capable supertruck right from the factory and we’re excited to show the world what 100-plus years of vehicle development2 know-how can do when applied to EV power.”
