General Motors previously announced plans to officially launch the new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV in the US market early this new year. According to the official website, the model has six trim variations, including the Launch Edition, regular 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, and higher-end 2RS and 3RS.

Timeline

Chevrolet disclosed its plans last year to launch a competitively priced electric SUV of about $30,000 by Fall 2023, InsideEVs reported. However, the automaker has faced numerous delays since the Equinox EV’s unveiling in September 2022.

Its expected pricing point of $30,000 also increased to about $34,995 for the entry-level 1LT trim. Excitingly, the American brand aims to kick off production of the all-electric SUV as early as the first quarter of 2024.

It also expects to complete the lineup of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV by the middle of the year, with the initial arrival of the Launch Edition earlier.

Key specs

As mentioned, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV has six trim variations. All of them offer a single-motor, front-wheel drive powertrain and an optional dual-motor, all-wheel drive system (eAWD).

The FWD versions feature a 159-kW electric motor (213 horsepower). It has an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. In addition, GM claims that FWD versions enable an EPA-rated range of 319 miles.

Meanwhile, the eAWD versions have a 215-kW (288 horsepower) dual-motor configuration. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. However, GM has yet to reveal range figures for the eAWD versions. As per its September 2022 announcement, it aims to offer the eAWD versions with 280 miles driving range.

The report also anticipates the model to feature an 85 kWh battery pack regardless of the powertrain configuration, as it has a similar 150-kW DC fast charging capacity as the 85 kWh battery-equipped base Chevrolet Blazer EV.

Presented below are the available basic specifications for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV:

Pricing

Chevrolet has yet to reveal the complete pricing of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV. As per the recent announcements, the Limited Edition (FWD) version will have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $48,995, including an undisclosed destination fee.

In addition, Chevrolet’s guide implies that the all-wheel drive configuration will make the Limited Edition the RS eAWD trim. It will apparently have a base price of $52,395, indicating a $3,400 difference.

Moreover, the base trim 1LT FWD will reportedly have a base price of $34,995. All that said, prices for three out of 11 total model configurations for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV are already available. Refer to the table below:

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV 3RS eAWD 21-inch $7,500**
* MSRP including an undisclosed destination charge
** There is no official confirmation that the $7,500 will be available in 2024 yet.

As you can see in the table above, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is expected to qualify for the full tax credits of $7,500 owing to its local production at GM’s Mexican plant and the use of GM-LGES US joint venture’s li-ion batteries.

Unfortunately, GM canceled plans to offer a $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox EV variant, which it announced last year as the 1LT FWD. The parent company may have struggled to secure a sufficient supply of a smaller battery than the speculated 85 kWh. It may also be because the lower-price version may not be as profitable for now.
