‼️ General Motors is going to employ the help of Costco to help sell its EVs and reverse a trend of lagging sales, in what is probably the most unlikely partnership one could ever expect.

Costco Auto Program offers exclusive deals for GM EV buyers

GM is seeking to leverage Costco’s 50 million members in the United States to market its electric vehicles to a wider pool of audience, according to CNBC.

The American automaker will use the Costco Auto Program, which helps automakers and car dealers market and sell their products for a subscription fee.

“We have a great partnership with Costco, and I’m really bullish on Costco because I like their brand.”

Available discounts

Under the strategic partnership, Costco members in the US can benefit from an exclusive $1,000 discount when they purchase select GM electric vehicles until the end of July. The qualified models include the following:

  1. New 2023 or 2024 Chevrolet Equinox
  2. New 2023 or 2024 Chevrolet Blazer
  3. New 2023 or 2024 Cadillac Lyriq

This discount excludes other available deals GM or a particular dealer offers for interested buyers.

“There’s some pretty strong incentives going on in the market for EVs right now.”

Jay Maxwell, Costco Auto Program General Manager

Intensifying competition in the EV market

GM’s partnership with Costco demonstrates its strong dedication to boosting electric vehicle sales and remaining competitive in the highly competitive market.

For context, Costco has also previously helped other automakers sell their EVs. It currently offers an exclusive $2,000 member discount for Volvo and Polestar, which will also end on July 31.

Costco Auto Program General Manager Maxwell proudly revealed that the initiative has helped sell over 500,000 cars annually on average over the last five years. It is also worth noting that 7% of applications on the program were for electric vehicles.
