South Korean automaker Genesis enjoyed record-breaking sales in its battery-electric models in the US in March and the first quarter of 2023.

In hindsight, the luxury brand just released its GV60 model in the US less than a year ago. It joined the company’s earlier models, GV70 and G80.

Genesis BEV sales in the US – March 2023 & Q1 2023

Remarkably, Genesis’ parent company Hyundai Motor disclosed that it hit a new high of 572 electric cars in March. The mix reportedly includes the initial 45 Genesis Electrified GV70, 212 Genesis GV60, and 315 Genesis Electrified G80.

March results:

  • Genesis Electrified G80: 315
  • Genesis Electrified GV70: 45
  • Genesis GV60: 212
  • Total: 572

For the Q1 2023 results, Genesis reported record-setting sales of 937 BEVs.

YTD results:

  • Genesis Electrified G80: 380
  • Genesis Electrified GV70: 45
  • Genesis GV60: 512
  • Total: 937

For comparison, Genesis had sales of 1,590 GV60 last year. For those wondering about the other two models, they only occurred in the statistics in 2023.

Several automakers report March and/or Q1 U.S. sales today. We start with Hyundai-Kia:

Q1:#Hyundai: +15.5%#Kia: +22%#Genesis: +17.5% pic.twitter.com/sfL6jyx8qA

It is also worth noting that the Genesis Electrified GV70 is made locally in Montgomery, Alabama. The strategic location enables the EV to gain eligibility for the federal tax credit of up to $7,500 under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Approximately 200 Genesis Electrified GV70 vehicles, including two for export, are said to have departed the South Korean automaker’s facility in March.

Below is a list of Genesis BEVs that are offered in the US along with their prices:

ModelBase PriceDest. ChargeTax CreditEffective Price
2023 Genesis Electrified G80 AWD 19-inch$79,825+$1,095N/A$80,920
2023 Genesis GV60 Advanced AWD 20-inch$59,290+$1,125N/A$60,415
2023 Genesis GV60 Performance AWD 21-inch$68,290+$1,125N/A$69,415
2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Advanced AWD 20-inch$65,850+$1,125$7,500$59,475

Genesis will eventually only offer all-electric vehicles, making it a zero-emission brand. By 2030, all vehicles in the lineup should be electric, per the automaker’s electrification strategy.
