Genesis has gone from being known as “that nice sedan makes” to “the upstart luxury brand that’s somehow outclassing Mercedes-Benz left and right” in just a few short years.
However, locating an electric Genesis, such as the wonderful GV60, may take much work for those who are interested in purchasing one of these vehicles. Only thirteen states currently have distribution for the GV60, G80 Electrified, and the soon-to-be-released GV70 Electrified.
Insideevs reports that Genesis officials announced that their brand’s lineup of electric vehicles would be sold in 15 states, with more states to follow soon after.
In addition to the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Utah, Virginia, and Washington, Texas, and Wisconsin are now the only two locations in the United States where any of the company’s electric models are available for purchase.
EV supply chain issues affect the EV market
On the eve of the release of the GV70 Electrified, this is an incredibly encouraging piece of news. It is predicted to be a volume-selling marketable crossover for the brand. As it is built at Hyundai’s Alabama plant, buyers may be eligible for tax rebates of up to $7,500 if they purchase the vehicle.
Jarred Pellat, a spokesperson for Genesis Motor America, stated that the typical supply chain issues that have plagued the entire industry as a result of the pandemic had been one of the challenges associated with EV rollouts.
However, it was also connected to the expansion of Genesis’s dealer network at the time.
Pellat stated to the reporters present at the launch event for the GV70 that took place this week in Atlanta that “the way we’re going about expanding EV sales is very deliberate.”
Pellat stated that Genesis anticipates that a significant number of its EV customers will be first-time customers for the brand (as are a substantial number of its customers in general) and first-time owners of electric vehicles.
“We want to make sure they have the best possible purchasing experience.”

Genesis to continue expanding its market
Customers who purchase an electric vehicle from Genesis will be eligible for an additional perk for three free years of 30-minute fast charging at Electrify America stations.
To this point, the electrified offerings from Genesis lag behind those of their more downmarket Hyundai and Kia siblings.
For example, the upcoming GV70 is estimated to have a range of 236 miles. In contrast, vehicles such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 are available with more than 300 miles.
Nevertheless, they have been accorded clear distinctions, with Car and Driver bestowing their Editor’s Choice award upon the GV60 for the current year.
Pellat stated that announcements concerning supplemental Genesis retailers and EV sales would be made within the next few months.
“We will be selling Genesis EVs everywhere Genesis is sold. We are not going to hold back.”
