Chinese state-owned brand GAC Aion has finally started the initial deliveries of its new electric sports car in its home market under its Hyper sub-brand.
According to the official online configurator, the new Hyper SSR has a maximum output of 1,224 horsepower and a remarkable acceleration time for a very attractive price.
About the Hyper SSR
InsideEVs defines the new Hyper SSR as a “Rimac Nevera-rivalling” sports car. Notably, the brand named the EV “SSR” as it stands for Super, Sports, and Race.
It further indicated that the model currently has three variants, including the base-trim Hyper SSR, Spring, and Ultimate.
Exterior
The Hyper SSR is a sleek two-door electric coupe featuring a streamlined design and unique gull-wing doors.
It features L-shaped headlights at the front and a sporty bumper with big air intakes. It also has two thin taillights at the rear with an active spoiler.
Hyper managed to reduce the weight of the SSR by using carbon fiber materials. It enables 100 kg downforce owing to its aerodynamic features, Car News China indicated.
It has 245/35 R20 front wheels, 305/30 R20 rear wheels and carbon-fiber brakes.
Interior
As for the interior, the sports car offers two heated and ventilated seats that support electronic adjustments. It features a 14.6″ touchscreen at the center console and an 8.88″ LCD instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
The interior also has many leather features for higher build quality. It also features two-zone climate control, eight speakers, and ACC.
Technical Details
The Hyper SSR rides on a 900-voltage platform with SiC chips that enable a 94.5% maximum efficiency in electric drive assembly.
The model has three electric motors that generate a maximum output of more than 900 kW and 12,000 Nm of torque. The entry-level trim can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the Sprint and Ultimate variants can do so in just 1.9 seconds.
As mentioned, the model has 1,224 horsepower and a driving range of up to 506 km.

For those interested, the base variant costs 1.28 million yuan ($176,380). Meanwhile, the Hyper SSR Spring starts at 1.38M yuan ($190,000). The highest-end trim Ultimate sells at an astounding 1.68M yuan ($231,000). Nonetheless, it is about eleven-fold cheaper than the Rimac Nevera hypercar, which costs $2.1M.
