Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently visited France to meet President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on May 15 to discuss matters involving “Green Industrialisation.”
Subsequent Twitter posts from the French President revealed that the discussion focused on the country’s potential for Tesla’s investment.
Intriguingly, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire reportedly expressed his positive outlook on Sunday regarding Tesla’s possible EV-related investment in the country, saying that he was “very hopeful” that CEO Musk will eventually choose France.
France continues to court Tesla
Minister Bruno Le Maire asserted in an interview with LCI television that “several options are on the table” when he was asked about the possibility of battery cell or other component-related investment from the American EV giant.
“He (Musk) knows that he would be welcome in France. It’s up to him to take the decision.”

It is worth noting that CEO Musk stated that the company would invest in France “at some point” following the recent meeting with President Macron.
Tesla’s potential investment in France would not be surprising, considering it retains a substantial market share there. Therefore, a new production plant will undoubtedly aid the company in maintaining its dominance in France.
However, Tesla has yet to confirm if the highly anticipated investment will actually involve electric vehicle production.
