American automaker Fisker announced yesterday that it will launch the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition in India.
Fisker aims to build 100 units of the all-electric SUV for Indian customers. In order to do that, the company is now working to obtain the necessary approval from the authority. It expects to complete the homologation process by September. Apart from that, it has already built its headquarters in Hyderabad last year, signifying a major achievement in the automaker’s electrification strategy.
It is also worth noting that Fisker specifically developed the new Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition for the Indian EV market. It apparently pays tribute to the automaker’s India subsidiary as it plans to attract local customers to adopt sustainable transportation.
Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition’s delivery, pricing, and ordering details
Fisker claims that the Ocean Extreme EV boasts an EPA-estimated range of 360 miles with standard 20″ wheels and tires. It apparently has the longest range of any new e-SUV in its category.
Fisker expects to start customer deliveries of the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition as early as the fourth quarter of this year.
As mentioned, the company plans to launch the limited model trim to Indian customers with only 100 units available.
Pricing-wise, Fisker said it will match the Indian-spec model with its European counterpart. Therefore, Indian buyers can anticipate the pricing of the EV to be somewhat similar to what it costs in Germany, 69,950 EUR. However, it must be noted that the price will include additional costs like import taxes and logistics specific to India. Simply put, the EV’s Indian pricing will be adjusted to pay for these extra costs but will still align with the German market price.
The American automaker also extended an “exclusive invitation” to the initial 100 buyers in India for the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition.
Notably, the model’s Indian launch came after the automaker began customer deliveries in Europe and the US.
“India offers exciting opportunities for us. Following the successful start of deliveries in Europe and the US, we’re thrilled that we can bring the Fisker Ocean Extreme, with its class-leading range and unique features, to a new market where we plan to grow our brand rapidly over the coming years.”
