Fisker revealed on February 27 that its 2022 expenses were lower than initially anticipated, which was only $702. It is significantly lower than its estimate of $715 million to $790 million.
It also confirms the company’s intention to push through with starting Ocean SUV deliveries this spring.
In addition, Fisker has disclosed its plans to produce over 40,000 electric vehicles in 2023. Remarkably, the company’s share surged more than 30% following the announcement.
About the Fisker Ocean
Production status
Fisker claims it has already produced 56 Ocean models at its partner Magna International‘s production plant in Austria. Of that total, 15 units were fully built before the end of 2022. Notably, these units are currently being tested by the partners as they continue to pursue the following steps:
· optimize the production process
· test out more features
· work through the US, Canadian, and European regulatory approval procedures
Notably, the automaker intends to pass the regulatory approval for the Fisker Ocean in March 2023 and start deliveries in the second quarter.
However, its production target of up to 42,400 EVs in 2023 is dependent if the “supply chain delivers per our forecast and we receive [regulatory approval] in a timely manner.”
Range and Pricing
In retrospect, the automaker initially stated that the Fisker Ocean would offer a range of approximately 350 miles in top trims. However, CEO Henrik Fisker clarified on Monday’s announcement that the EV demonstrated a higher range than initially estimated during early testing.
“These results reinforce our expectation that, at the time of launch, the Fisker Ocean will have the longest range of any SUV/Crossover priced below $70,000.”

Meanwhile, the entry-level Ocean model would have a range of around 250 miles with a $37,499 base rice. Ocean’s longer-range trim would be offered with a base price of approximately $50,000.
Trim | Range | Price |
Entry level | About 250 miles | $37,499 |
Longer-range | – | $50,000 |
Top range | More than 350 miles | $70,000 |
Reservations
Fisker already had about 65,000 reservations for the Ocean as of February 24. That figure demonstrates a slight increase from just about 62,000 reservations in Q3 2022.
Another good news from the EV startup is that its impending second model Pear has also already garnered more than 5,600 pre-orders as of February 24. The Pear is anticipated to have a base price of $29,900, substantially cheaper than the Ocean.
