American electric automaker Fisker officially announced Thursday plans to launch the first-ever Fisker Lounge in Shanghai, China, between December 2023 and January 2024.
Plan details
Fisker’s move to develop its first electric vehicle store in the world’s largest auto market is part of its wider expansion strategy.
“China is an incredibly important market for us. We are delivering vehicles in the US and Europe, but our goal since the company was established in 2016 has been to operate as a fully global firm.”
Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker
Fisker plans to erect the Fisker Lounge in high-traffic retail areas to attract nearby people to the brand and its models. That said, the American automaker aims to locate the retail store on Taicang Road at the center of Shanghai.
It also expects to officially launch the retail store as early as December 2023 to January 2024.
Fisker’s optimism in the Chinese market
Fisker aims to catch up with industry leader Tesla in the local market. However, it may be challenging as most non-Chinese brands currently struggle there amid the intensifying competition brought on by Tesla itself.
It announced in June 2023 that it plans to start delivering the Ocean e-SUV in China in Q1 2024. At that time, Chief Henrik Fisker also expressed optimism that it may hit annual sales of 75,000 in the region.
“The EV industry is rapidly growing in China, and we want Fisker to be positioned as one of only two pure foreign EV brands. The Chinese customer deserves as much choice as possible, and we intend to provide it to them.”

Fisker has started the deliveries of the Ocean e-SUV in the US and European markets. It also recently achieved the 5,000 production mark for the model in September.
Notably, it aims to boost daily deliveries to 300 Ocean units in late 2023 to meet the high customer demand. It also aims to accelerate production to 300 units/day in Q4 2023 from just 180 units/day in Q3 2023.
