Filing details

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has just published the most recent vehicle models awaiting regulatory approval to hit the Chinese automotive market.

Before that, they must first encounter the mandatory public comment on October 6. One of these models is the popular all-electric crossover Tesla Model Y.

According to the report, MIIT will accept feedback submissions from October 17 to October 23. It is apparently the final process for the models to obtain sales permits in the world’s largest automotive market.

New features

The catalog featured the Tesla Model Y on two pages under the model numbers TSL6480BEVAR3 and TSL6480BEVAR4.

Interestingly, the details indicated in the two different model numbers are similar. As mentioned, both Tesla Model Ys now offer radar support as an option.

Both Tesla Model Y variants also have a distinctive wheel design compared to currently available units. In addition, their front now features fog lights.

The descriptions in the two pages also revealed that the models use a lithium iron phosphate battery from Chinese giant CATL.

Moreover, both model numbers utilize a single electric motor with a maximum 220 kW output.

As for the dimensions, below are the electric SUV’s measurements:

  • Length: 4,750 mm
  • Width: 1,921 mm
  • Height: 1,624 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,890 mm

Both Tesla Model Ys also boast a 217 km/h top speed, according to the catalog.

Revamped Tesla Model Y pricing

EV-a2z previously reported that Tesla introduced the revamped Model Y in the Chinese market at the same price as the existing model.

Its base price remained at RMB 263,900 ($36,120). Despite the unchanged pricing, the new model variant offers new features and notable tech updates.

Tesla announced yesterday on the social media platform Weibo that it has commenced the revamped Model Y deliveries in China.

Notably, this new model variant did not appear in MIIT’s catalogs before deliveries started. That said, it remains unclear if this new Tesla Model was the one featured in the latest filing.
