Tesla Megapacks are employed to store energy at Europe‘s biggest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) by capacity, as per InsideEVs. In a press release, the investment company Harmony Energy Income Trust stated that the system is now operational.

Meanwhile, Tesla‘s partner Harmony Energy is in charge of the project. It is also worth noting that about 3 MWh Tesla Megapack blocks make up the BESS. In addition to batteries, Tesla also offered its Autobidder trading platform. The UK-based leading operator of utility-scale battery energy storage claims that the Pillswood project has a power output of up to 98 MW and an energy storage capacity of up to 196 MWh. It can provide two hours of full power (or longer at lower power).

“The completion and energisation of the Pillswood scheme, the largest of its kind in Europe by energy capacity, is a significant milestone for Harmony Energy Income Trust, being the first of six similar projects the Trust intends to deliver in the coming year,” Harmony Energy Director Peter Kavanagh said.

"What is thought to be Europe's biggest #BatteryEnergy storage system has begun operating near Hull. The site, said to be able to store enough electricity to power 300,000 homes for two hours, went online at Pillswood, Cottingham, on Monday."https://t.co/a0K5ZxoCik pic.twitter.com/RLsdVl8BXL

It is also worth noting that about 3 MWh Tesla Megapack blocks make up the BESS.

The project demonstrates the significant influence Tesla has in Europe, both in the auto industry and the electrical sector.

In addition to batteries, Tesla also offered its Autobidder trading platform.

“The project will be operated through Autobidder, Tesla’s algorithmic trading platform, which has demonstrated a strong track record over the past two years in managing the Holes Bay and Contego projects – two existing battery storage projects also developed by Harmony Energy Limited in conjunction with FRV.”

The UK-based leading operator of utility-scale battery energy storage claims that the Pillswood project has a power output of up to 98 MW and an energy storage capacity of up to 196 MWh. It can provide two hours of full power (or longer at lower power).

“It is also a significant achievement for Harmony Energy Limited: this project is the third, and largest, battery energy storage project which we have developed and subsequently delivered through construction,” Kavanagh stated.

Tesla is swiftly overtaking other manufacturers of battery-powered energy storage systems. In fact, Tesla’s Megapacks have or will power other “Big Battery” projects in numerous Australian sites, US states, other areas in Europe, and Japan, to mention a few.
