Proposal details

Dave Lee, an 11-year Tesla investor, suggested the idea on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X (former Twitter).

Lee (@heydave7) proposed a strategic partnership that will commit Tesla to invest and share DOJO compute resources with Elon Musk’s xAI.

Meanwhile, xAI would offer Tesla a stake in the company and also share its AI chatbot Grok AI.

The suggestion is strategic and smart, so it is unsurprising that many Tesla investors also support it.

About xAI

Elon Musk officially introduced xAI last July as the billionaire seeks to “understand reality.” At that time, he already hinted at a potential partnership with Tesla regarding AI software and silicon.

Notably, xAI is a separate business entity from X. It has a team of AI experts, mostly from major companies like Microsoft, OpenAI, and Tesla.

The new AI company is part of the business tycoon’s efforts to foster a positive and thriving AI future. He is optimistic that AI can provide humanity with crucial concepts to solve even the most complex problems in the world.

One of the startup’s new technology is the chatbot Grok AI.

Elon Musk and the xAI team just dropped some intriguing suggestions,
and from the sounds of it, Grok is ready to redefine the AI assistant landscape.

Concerns

A partnership between Elon Musk’s business ventures is not new anymore. The billionaire previously planned to incorporate Neuralink with a Tesla bot to invent and build bionic limbs for amputees, as noted by Benzinga. The Boring Company also launched “underground loops” via Tesla EVs to alleviate traffic issues.

However, the Tesla-xAI partnership idea also stirred several concerns over potential political implications for the EV giant. For context, Musk previously stated plans to form a partnership between X and xAI, where the social media platform will own a 25% stake.

According to BOL News, X has been a controversial social media platform due to its open-door policy on free speech. It indicated that the platform enabled widespread hate speech and misinformation, which may affect Tesla in the long run.

Nonetheless, the potential benefits remain

substantial. A partnership with xAI will enable Tesla to advance its AI efforts and access a new stream of revenue in the future. Likewise, it can also aid xAI financially and technologically with Tesla’s DOJO compute resources.
