Dodge to electrify the iconic Charger car

Dodge officially disclosed plans to kill the classic Charger muscle car in 2021, Motor Trend reported.

Fortunately, the brand decided to revive the car as an all-electric model amid the global shift to sustainable mobility.

In hindsight, it initially teased the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT “Banshee” in 2022. At that time, the concept car featured the iconic exterior design of the original model. It exhibited an eRupt transmission and a fake exhaust.

Teaser photo highlights

As you can see in the teaser photos indicated in the X post above, the new Charger EV looks notably similar to the concept car revealed in 2022.

The front badge sports the brand’s Fratzog logo with strong illumination. It also retained the concept car’s signature light bar.

In addition, it still has the original model’s wide stance despite its unique branding. It also features the “Daytone” moniker at the rear end.

What’s currently known about the Charger EV’s technical specs?

Dodge previously teased the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee concept’s AWD configuration and an up to 800V system integration.

Howling like a Banshee.

The 800V Banshee propulsion system powers the @Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept and screams performance, making the brand’s electric vehicle concept faster than a Hellcat in all key performance measures. Learn more here: https://t.co/IQVeXAdzEg pic.twitter.com/EDY8vcZwq4

According to The Detroit News’ November report, the production car will offer three base models. It will also apparently ride on the STLA Large platform.

Two base models will come with a 400V system that can generate an output of 455 horsepower. The output figure increases to 535 horsepower by using a Direction Connection Kit.

The higher trim can enable 590 horsepower to 670 horsepower, while details about the top-tier 800V system-equipped model remain vague.

Nonetheless, we can expect Dodge to release more information about the new Charger EV and its trims near the official launch in late 2024.
