Delta, a leading power management and industrial automation solutions provider, showcased many IoT-based Smart Green Solutions at Elecrama 2023.
These innovations include the intelligent microgrid-based Green EV Charging point and the new Open-Loop Variable-Torque Standard Drive VP3000 Series.
For context, the new VP3000 Series is a complete solution that combines the following Delta technologies:
- EV chargers
- Energy storage systems
- PV inverters
- EV Charging Infrastructure Management System
These Delta technologies allow microgrids to provide clean electricity to EVs while assisting in the grid stabilization of the EV charging infrastructure.
The All-new VP3000 Series
The new VP3000 Series has high power ratings of up to 630kW. That capacity essentially improves productivity and reduces harmonic distortion (THDi) in industrial motors used in HVAC, pumps, compressors, and water supply applications by 35%.
Delta is becoming more committed to India’s green industrial transformation as a primary contributor to the “Make in India” initiative through its newly developing manufacturing capabilities in Krishnagiri.
“In line with our corporate mission, ‘To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow.
Delta invests over 8% of its annual revenues into R&D and leverages its system integration prowess to develop cutting-edge solutions that can help improve productivity and reduce carbon emissions. From 2010 to 2021, our high-efficiency products and solutions helped our customers save over 35.9 billion kWh of electricity, which translates into a reduction of 19.01 million tons of CO2e. We intend to leverage our global leadership in energy infrastructure, reflected in the more than 2 million Delta EV chargers shipped to our customers worldwide over the past decade, to help Indian cities reduce their carbon footprint.”
Mr. Benjamin Lin, President of Delta Electronics India (via Delta press conference)
The Managing Director of Delta Electronics India has also commented on the introduction of the new VP3000 series in the country.
“For two decades now, Delta India has built a unique track record in developing tailor-made solutions to suit the requirements and sustainable goals of our Indian customers. We have cumulatively delivered over 7,000 EV chargers to our customers across the country, and the Green EV Charging Station launched today at ELECRAMA will help facilitate India’s e-mobility transition even further. The new VP3000 series is an important addition to our broad Industrial Automation Solutions offering for various applications. Today, we are demonstrating how Delta’s solutions transform transportation, factories, buildings, telecom power sites, and data centers into intelligent, connected, and sustainable infrastructure.”
Mr. Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India
Delta’s unique capabilities
Delta’s 300sqm booth (# H12G1H2) in Hall 12 of the India Expo Mart features a Green EV Charging Station built with Delta’s Smart Energy and EV Charging Solutions. The technology is equipped with Power Conditioning Systems with up to 97.8% efficiency and quick power transfer times of 34ms, energy storage, and solar PV inverters.
Delta provides EV chargers ranging from 22kW AC Max for commercial and residential use to 240kW DC chargers for industrial applications.
Fast charging stations and Delta’s unique capabilities to foster innovative, sustainable cities are demonstrated further by a wide range of solutions. It ranges from 6-axis articulated robot workstations with advanced machine vision to indoor air quality (IAQ) systems for buildings.
The recent growth in the EV sector has focused attention on the resilience and capacity of India’s electricity grids.
Delta’s Green EV charging station contributes to grid stress reduction by incorporating Distributed Energy Resources such as solar energy and energy storage at or near EV charging stations.
It increases the peak capacity required for EV charging under the current electricity infrastructure.
The Open-Loop-Variable-Torque Standard Drive VP3000 Series
Delta’s second product introduction was the Open-Loop Variable-Torque Standard Drive VP3000 Series. It is explicitly developed for the fluid industry to improve machine operation efficiency and minimize inverter harmonic wave distribution.
The VP3000 Series has excellent driving performance and stability. It supports a wide range of high-efficiency motors, such as induction motors, permanent magnet motors, and synchronous reluctance motors. It increases motor productivity and efficiency while lowering carbon emissions for environmental sustainability.
It is appropriate for fans, pumps, HVAC, water supply, compressors, and other variable-torque application equipment as a critical component of device-based energy saving.
It also has a PdM (Predictive Maintenance) function that monitors vital components for easier Maintenance and a longer product life. Its introduction solidifies the vision of carbon and energy tax savings.
Intelligent energy-saving solutions
Delta has been delivering intelligent energy-saving solutions globally for over a decade and has over 50 years of expertise in high-efficiency power technologies.
Delta and major EV charging infrastructure stakeholders have significantly contributed to deploying EV chargers across India. It includes major charge point operators such as TATA Power and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (BESCOM), oil marketing companies such as BPCL, and various OEMs.
ELECRAMA 2023, held from February 18 to 22, is India’s most important tradeshow for the electrical industry and power sector, with over 1,400 exhibitors from over 100 countries and over 300,000 visitors. The 2023 version was held at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
