Twitter‘s new CEO Elon Musk tweeted, “We just hit another all-time high in Twitter usage lol … let that sink in,” as #RIPTwitter topped the list of the US trending topics on Thursday night.

Work long hours or get booted

CEO Musk’s tweet was published after it was reported that hundreds of Twitter staff left the company. He threatened to dismiss them if they would not work “long hours at high intensity.”

According to reports, the cutoff time for leaving or staying on board was Thursday at 5 PM. It appears that most staff are willing to say farewell.

Millions of Twitter users saw the reported mass resignation as an indication that the bird app was approaching its end. Some former employees claim that some important company areas are currently vacant.

Apart from that, CEO Musk stressed that he is not very apprehensive about Twitter’s survival despite the company’s losses. He reasoned that the finest employees for the organization were those that stayed and showed commitment: “The best people are staying, so I’m not super worried.”

Twitter continued to function without any problems. Therefore, Musk’s views appear to be relatively true. The former employee’s assertion that the public version of Twitter was in danger of going down overnight has thus not been corroborated.

One of the reasons companies routinely do 3 layoffs instead of one is they are almost all afraid to “cut too much.” They fear “hitting bone.” But they VASTLY underestimate how resilient companies actually are. Companies endure. (More).

— Bill Gurley (@bgurley) November 18, 2022

Musk’s recent Twitter-related moves have made him the subject of much criticism. However, he has won the backing of some well-known people, including Bill Gurley. He is a general partner at the venture capital firm Benchmark, and he stated that anybody hoping for Twitter to collapse today should get ready to be disappointed.

In response to Gurley’s observations on Twitter, Musk tweeted: Don’t wanna jinx it, but there’s a chance we can keep Twitter alive.”

For those unaware, Musk completed a $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter. However, the agreement was delayed by controversy for a while before the actual takeover occurred.
