Chinese battery giant CATL has just launched the new Tianxing commercial vehicle battery brand, marking the debut of its two innovative products.
Tianxing L series
CATL officially introduced Tianxing with the launch of its first two battery packs under the Tianxing L series at a special event and in a Weibo post on Thursday.
CATL asserted that the new Tianxing brand will deliver “full-scenario” solutions to the logistics and distribution industry.
The Tianxing L series includes a supercharging and long-range version. Apart from these two variants, CATL noted that the series solution also has other packs with 30 kWh-200 kWh capacity and a driving range of 150 km-500 km. They can apparently enable supercharging across the board, which is suitable for extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
Tianxing L supercharging
CATL’s new Tianxing L supercharging battery boasts 4C charging speeds, enabling it to reach 60% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 12 minutes.
For context, “C” refers to a battery’s charge multiplier. Therefore, 4C means the battery can hit 100% SoC in a quarter of an hour.
The Tianxing L supercharging battery yields a 140 kWh capacity and a 155 Wh/kg energy density. It also promises a long life span of eight years and 800,000 kilometers.
CATL noted that this supercharging battery is suitable for time-sensitive scenarios.
Tianxing L long-range
The new Tianxing L long-range battery offers a 200 kWh capacity and a 200 Wh/k energy density.
This innovative battery enables a driving range of up to 500 kilometers. According to the company, it is more suitable for long-distance transportation to avoid charging inconvenience.
Impressively, the Tianxing L long-range enables an electric vehicle to go from Hohhot to Beijing on a single charge. It also boasts a life span of eight years and 800,000 kilometers.
CATL’s commercial vehicle battery segment penetration signifies its commitment to remaining dominant in the overall market after consistently leading the passenger car battery segment. CATL disclosed it has already kicked off the mass production of the Tianxing L-series battery packs. Additionally, 13 automakers have already committed to adopting these new Tianxing L series batteries for 21 models.
