Electric truck maker Xos announced that Swedish cash transport firm Loomis had ordered another 150 armored electric vehicles for the US market. In addition, the automaker will also provide Loomis with access to its charging infrastructure and services, enabling seamless integration into Loomis’ broader business operations.
For context, Xos already supplied Loomis with 20 armored EVs in 2019.
Loomis’ mission and Xos’ role in it
Loomis aims to reduce the carbon emissions it generates with its cash delivery operations.
That said, the company committed to gradually electrifying its cash delivery fleets, which started in 2019 by purchasing EVs from Xos.
“We have made a commitment to reduce carbon emissions from our business and have set out to lead the transformation in the industry. By significantly increasing the number of EVs in US operations, we are on our way to both reducing our own emissions and helping our customers reach their targets while maintaining our high security standards.”
Loomis AB President & CEO Aritz Larrea
Loomis has also declared plans to collaborate with other automotive suppliers to boost its clean energy efforts while promising to ensure the safety of its clients. Currently, the company is striving to reach 100% renewable energy in its operations with planned solar panel projects.
Xos’ mission and Loomis’ role in it
On the other hand, Xos aims to contribute to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles by providing its products to those companies looking to electrify their fleets. Xos manufactures electric powertrains, medium- and heavy-duty EVs, and the requisite charging infrastructure.
“Working with the industry-leading Loomis team for the last four years has been a pivotal highlight in our mission to help all fleets make the move to battery-electric operations. This continued partnership is a testament to the reliability and durability of our vehicles and their ability to achieve the high-performance parameters required for cash-in-transit operations.”
Xos CEO Dakota Semler
That said, the substantial order from Loomis will aid the automaker in further expanding the reach of its products. It demonstrates the reliability and efficiency of the company’s EV offerings, which can urge more clients to seek their assistance in fleet electrification.
Notably, Xos will gradually deliver Loomis’ order of 150 armored EVs for the latter’s cash delivery operations. The armored EVs are anticipated to be essential in aiding Loomis to reach its goal of a 15% CO2 reduction compared to 2019 levels by 2024.
