American electric automaker Canoo proudly announced that it finally started the first deliveries of its Canoo LDV 130 commercial electric van.
Delivery progress
According to the press release, Canoo delivered the LDV 130s to national work-ready van provider Kingbee.
Canoo delivered the electric vehicles to Kingbee, aligning with their agreed timeline. The delivery progress is a crucial part of the company’s multi-phased production ramp-up in Oklahoma City.
The Walmart-backed EV startup plans to follow deliveries to its other customers through 2024.
“We are proud that an increasing number of our vehicles are on the roads of America, and we are looking forward to our vehicles joining Kingbee and its impressive list of customers. Our vehicles are engineered for service workers, and optimized for safety, reliability, and comfort. This is what distinguishes our vehicles and provides a competitive edge for commercial fleet companies.”
Tony Aquila, Investor, Canoo Executive Chairman and CEO
In hindsight, Canoo had already delivered its commercial electric vans to various customers, including NASA, the US military, and the state of Oklahoma for testing.
However, it seems that the vans delivered to Kingbee will be the first units accessible to the public.
Orders
Kingbee ordered a total of 9,300 Canoo LDV 130 commercial electric vans under the agreement. The company can also opt to increase its orders to 18,600 units, depending on the vehicle’s availability.
Kingbee will provide work-ready fleet solutions to businesses throughout the US by equipping, custom wrapping, and delivering Canoo vehicles.
“We are excited for the opportunity to help fleets transition to electric vehicles. Fleets of all sizes use Kingbee as a flexible option for vehicle acquisition, and we’re honored to be among the first to add Canoo to our EV portfolio.”
Scott Haslam, Kingbee Vans CEO
Apart from Kingbee, Walmart ordered a total of 4,500 orders with an option to increase by another 5,500 units. Zeeba also has the option to increase its current 3,000 orders to an additional 2,450. The state of Oklahoma also placed an order of 1,000 units for Canoo’s electric vehicles.
